History and Legacy

 

1996  Earl Mosley's Diversity of Dance, Inc. was founded by Fredrick Earl Mosley as a professional dance and teaching company.

 

1998  Earl Mosley's Diversity of Dance, Inc. became a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization.

 

2005  Earl Mosley's Diversity of Dance, Inc. creates Earl Mosley’s Institute of The Arts, an annual four-week summer dance intensive at The Marvelwood School in Kent, CT.

2011  Earl Mosley's Diversity of Dance, Inc. creates an all-male identifying intergenerational project, Hearts of Men, a year-long outreach program specifically targeted to uplift and celebrate young men through dance with an annual summer intensive.

 

2012  Fredrick Earl Mosley and EMIA received the Connecticut Dance Alliance's Distinguished Achievement in Dance Award.

 

2013  Earl Mosley's Diversity of Dance, Inc. creates Dancing Beyond, in collaboration with the Manhattan Movement Arts Center and Dance Against Cancer, serving 80-120 students, along with tri-state area schools and companies with all proceeds donated to the American Cancer Society.  

 

2016  Fredrick Earl Mosley received the Martha Hill's Mid-Career Award along with Diversity of Dance Alumnus Eric Parra receiving Martha Hill's Young Professional Award.

 

2018  Earl Mosley's Diversity of Dance, Inc.'s EMIA relocated its summer intensive to Hofstra University, in Hempstead, NY.

2020  Earl Mosley's Diversity of Dance, Inc.'s EMIA reaches international expansion with participants from the London, Japan, Peru, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Israel, and America.

2021 Fredrick Earl Mosley and Earl Mosley's Diversity of Dance, Inc. shared the world premiere of the international dance film UNCONQUERED. 

​

2021  Pioneering, loved, inaugural, and celebrated Executive Director Steffen Coleman transitioned from her role after guiding EMDOD for 25 years.

​

2022  Fredrick Earl Mosley is named the National Dance Institute's Helen Stambler Neuberger Artist-in-Residence throughout 2022 celebrating creative processes for an artist of color showcasing excellence in the field.

2024  Earl Mosley's Diversity of Dance participates in the 14th Festival Internacional de Ballet (FINBA) in Cali, Colombia where Fredrick Earl Mosley is given the Maestro title.

​

2025  Fredrick Earl Mosley is awarded the Limón Director's Award for Innovation in Education by the José Limón Dance Foundation in honor of the impact that he and his vision has had on the dance community.

​

2025  Earl Mosley's Institute of the Arts celebrates two decades of quality and accessible summer dance education with its 20th anniversary.
