EMIA 2022

In-Person Residential Summer Program
July 3rd - July 30th
Earl Mosley's Institute of the Arts summer dance intensive enables each individual to achieve the highest level of excellence in a positive collaboration between dancer and artist in an environment where they can feel safe and motivated. Day and residential students, ages 14 and above, elect to attend either a two-week program or the full four-week Institute at Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY. Dancers take classes in ballet, modern, African, tap, hip-hop, theatre jazz, yoga, composition, percussion and repertory taught by an outstanding team of nationally and internationally known artists/teachers and choreographers. In addition to rigorous technique classes and repertory rehearsals, students are encouraged to choreograph their own works or participate in works choreographed by other students. Each week different guest artists will teach classes concluding in weekly student performances for families and open to the community. A variety of activities are woven into each session including the history of dance; the business of dance; dance programs and degree institutions; tips on body conditioning; safety and health. Students focus on learning from one another, creating a global community of dancers who have the opportunity to experience and share the traditions and the arts of many cultures.
